This course will introduce the learner to the notion of discrimination in particular to the workplace. This course will also provide an overview of different types of discrimination, federal and state laws surrounding discrimination, and best practices for supervisors. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Adhere to best practices for recruitment, hiring, promotions, and conditions of employment.
  • Understand the benefits and consequences of EEO in reference to discrimination.
  • Adhere to federal and state laws surrounding a fair and respectful workplace.

This course will introduce the learner to diversity in the workplace. The course will familiarize the learner with the importance of maintaining a diverse workplace by highlighting the benefits working in a diverse organization. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • How promoting diversity enables the organization to retain talent, increase productivity and profitability, and instill a sense of loyalty in employee.
  • How stereotyping, discrimination and prejudice can serious problems at the organization.
  • Why encouraging cultural awareness among employees is important to the organization.

This course will introduce the learner to the code of conduct by which all employees must abide at the institution. The course will familiarize the learner with various aspects of the code, including policies on insider trading, outside activities, and conflicts of interest. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • What constitutes a violation of the code of conduct.
  • Why excellence is important to the institution and how the learner can contribute to the success of the organization.
  • What constitutes prohibited financial interests and how they can be avoided.

This course will provide the learner with an introduction to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and will detail the specific types of FSAs that are available to individuals. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

This course will introduce the learner to harassment in the workplace, including a look at federally protected categories such as age, disability, national origin, and more. The course will also delve into different types and channels of harassment, and its effects. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize and report all types of workplace harassment.
  • Act appropriately if accusing someone, or if being accused, of harassment.
  • Discuss the necessity of honesty and the avoidance of retaliation.

This course provides the learner with a framework and guidelines that a manager can use to help him/her have difficult conversations with employees who violate the company’s dress code or who have personal hygiene issues that have become a distraction in the work place. The course also provides details regarding the various hygiene issues that a manager may have to address with employees and how to speak about each. Upon completing this course, the learner will:

  • Be able to hold proper discussions with employees about hygiene and dress code issues.
  • Understand what constitutes a problem in regard to personal hygiene.
  • Understand the importance of following proper procedure when discussing sensitive matters with employees.

This course will familiarize the learner with laws and policies surrounding Equal Employment Opportunity. The learner will explore the key federal laws which prohibit workplace discrimination and harassment. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize instances of discrimination and harassment, particularly sexual harassing behaviors.
  • Understand and apply key federal laws such as ADA, FLSA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
  • Address requirements, policies, and the results of non-compliance.
