This course will introduce the learner to the importance of office safety to one's health. The course will discuss the situations in which the worker finds himself/herself and provides tips on how reduce the stress and strain on the body that happens throughout the course of the business day. After completing this program, the learner will understand:

  • Proper positions for sitting, standing, and resting wrists at the keyboard.
  • Environmental issues, such as lighting, that can negatively affect one's health.
  • The challenges that keyboards, the mouse, and phones cause.

This course will introduce the learner to the recruitment and selection processes performed by Human Resources (HR). The course will familiarize the learner with structuring job information and recruitment sources, effective interviewing techniques, and how to properly select and hire new employees. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • How to recognize and avoid bias in recruitment and selection.
  • How to use ability and psychometric tests as additions to normal interviewing techniques.
  • How to ensure fair and respectful hiring methods by avoiding and discouraging discrimination and harassment.

This course will demonstrate the role that social networking websites play in toda's professional world, and demonstrate the impact that it can have on an organizations and employees when used improperly. Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will understand:

  • How social media can compromise sensitive organizational information

  • Legislation regarding the use of social media by individuals and organizations

This course will define and introduce the learner to sexual harassment and how and why it needs to be avoided at the institution. The course will familiarize the learner with sexual harassment laws and regulations, in addition to outlining the types of sexual harassment and behaviors that can be considered harassing. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • The potentially devastating effects that sexual harassment can have on employees and the institution as a whole.
  • What are and are not appropriate workplace behaviors.
  • How to respond to and report sexual harassment at the institution.

Seat Time: 2.75hrs - Desc:

This course will familiarize the learner with instances of workplace violence and how to understand, avoid, and report them. The learner will be given an overview of various types of threats and threatening behaviors. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Understand the effects of workplace violence, domestic violence, stalking, and other threatening behavior.
  • Enforce federal laws and workplace rules in order to prevent workplace violence.
  • Respond to instances of violence appropriately and aid in the recovery process.
