This course will demonstrate the important role that human resources personnel play at an organization, and provide a detailed overview of the diverse array of responsibilities that is indicative a professional and efficient HR department. Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will understand:

  • How to efficiently evaluate an organization’s staffing needs.
  • Appropriate interviewing processes.
  • Techniques for developing effective orientation and training programs.

This course will introduce the learner to the code of conduct by which all employees must abide at the institution. The course will familiarize the learner with various aspects of the code, including policies on insider trading, outside activities, and conflicts of interest. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • What constitutes a violation of the code of conduct.
  • Why excellence is important to the institution and how the learner can contribute to the success of the organization.
  • What constitutes prohibited financial interests and how they can be avoided.

This course will define and introduce the learner to sexual harassment and how and why it needs to be avoided at the institution. The course will familiarize the learner with sexual harassment laws and regulations, in addition to outlining the types of sexual harassment and behaviors that can be considered harassing. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • The potentially devastating effects that sexual harassment can have on employees and the institution as a whole.
  • What are and are not appropriate workplace behaviors.
  • How to respond to and report sexual harassment at the institution.

Seat Time: 2.25hrs - Desc:

This course will familiarize the learner with laws and policies surrounding Equal Employment Opportunity. The learner will explore the key federal laws which prohibit workplace discrimination and harassment. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize instances of discrimination and harassment, particularly sexual harassing behaviors.
  • Understand and apply key federal laws such as ADA, FLSA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
  • Address requirements, policies, and the results of non-compliance.

This course will provide the learner with an introduction to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and will detail the specific types of FSAs that are available to individuals. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • What the advantages of FSAs are for individuals and employees.
  • How FSA contributions work.
  • How FSA distributions are made.
