T1. People Planning as an HR Function: This topic will introduce the learner to the important Human Resources (HR) tasks of recruitment and selection by familiarizing the learner with key hiring issues and the benefits of effective recruitment.

T2. Your Role in Recruitment and Selection: This topic will familiarize the learner with his/her role in the recruitment and selection process by providing the definition and objectives of resourcing and outlining the positions the make up the HR team.

T3. Developing a Framework for Recruitment: This topic will familiarize the learner with the need for recruitment and recruitment objectives, in addition to providing steps for the creation of a framework that will lead to effective recruitment.

T4. Structuring Job Information: This topic will provide the learner with the tools needed to properly structure job information, including the parts of the job analysis, commonly used terms, how to collect job information, and how to create an effective job description.

T5. Recruitment Sources: This topic will familiarize the learner with the various sources of recruitment that are available, strategies for recruitment advertising, and the different types of recruitment, such as internal and external recruitment.

T6. Recognizing Bias: This topic will define bias and will familiarize the learner with the different types of bias and how to avoid being biased when it comes to making recruitment and selection decisions.

T7. Using Ability or Psychometric Tests: This topic will familiarize the learner with the need for and benefits of additional testing of applicants and will focus on defining and explaining the roles and purposes of ability and psychometric tests in the recruitment process.

T8. Communication Basics: This topic will familiarize the learner with the communication skills that are important to effective recruitment and selection, including listening and questioning skills, and the importance of being able to interpret body language.

T9. Interview Preparation: This topic will familiarize the learner with interview preparation by providing him/her with the types of candidates s/he may encounter, the main elements of the Candidate Rating System, and how to properly use an evaluation report.

T10. Interview Techniques: This topic will familiarize the learner with the various interview techniques that s/he may use, including behavior-based interviews, in addition to methods for smooth interviews, and examples of appropriate and inappropriate interview questions.

T11. Interview Follow-Up: This topic will familiarize the learner with the reasons for additional interviews and the types of interviews that they may use, in addition to making the learner aware of the types and importance of references in the selection process.

T12. Overcoming Interview Problems: This topic will familiarize the learner with the types of problem candidates and other problems that may arise during the interview process, and strategies for remaining focused even when applicants become upset or agitated.

T13. The Selection Decision: This topic will focus on the selection decision and will familiarize the learner with the proper procedures for evaluating and selecting candidates, how to contact and make an offer to the selected candidate(s), and the parts and clauses of a new employee contract.

T14. Fair and Respectful Hiring Methods: This topic will emphasize to the learner the importance of remaining fair and objective when making hiring decisions by familiarizing him/her with transparency and accountability, what equal employment opportunity is, and the detrimental effects of corrupt HR practices.

T15. Our Commitment to HR Compliance: This topic will familiarize the learner with his/her role in HR compliance by explaining the various ramifications of being found non-compliant, such as criminal and civil penalties, sanctions, and corporate image damage.

T16. Discriminatory Behavior: This topic will define discrimination and harassment and the ways in which both manifest themselves and will explain how both can affect the recruitment process and how and why they need to be prevented.

T17. Employee Retention: This topic will provide the learner with strategies for effective recruitment that will lead to employee retention, such as recruitment analysis, the four stages of HR management, and exit management procedures.
